Second Step is a program designed to teach children to recognize situations and react to them appropriately.  These situations could be treating others kindly as well as recognizing situations for themselves.  We teach the children to take deep breaths when they are frustrated and to count out loud to calm down when upset.  Second Step uses real situation conflicts where we have class discussions on how to solve the conflict.
