Guided Reading is small group instruction to help children learn strategies while reading. Children will read on their level, answer comprehension questions and learn to read with meaning. By working in small groups, we can hone in on areas of weakness and help guide your child while reading. Your child will bring home books in a plastic bag. Please have your child read this book to you each night. They will practice reading the same book for a few days and then add a new book to the bag. After a few weeks, we will replace the books with new ones. It is important to reread the books even if your child is reading fluently. After a page or two, ask them questions to be sure your child is comprehending what they are reading. Please see below at the reading benchmarks for your child.
